Back Home

Sorry for the week or so of silence. Wait, I’ve been told before by someone that reads my blog that I shouldn’t apologize… So apology retracted.

I’ve now been home just over a week and it’s been such a good week back. I feel so grateful to be living in this city, so grateful for the expereinces of the last 2 months, hopeful for what this year could bring, but also very content with where I am.

A big theme in my life right now is balance. I operate best when I’m balanced, something I’ve known for some time now but have often failed to enact in my life. I’m trying to work well and efficiently when I work, to learn how to rest (something I’m bad at), and generally just learn how to be at peace and still– not always dwelling so heavily on future possibilities but being able to really sit and work through the projects and challenges that are here in the present. I think this last 2 months working on “Shake the Dust” have been really monumental in helping me find that balance and focus on the present. It was good and fulfilling to have a singular task to throw myself fully into, and to work towards seeing something I care deeply about to it’s completion.

Below are a few film stills from my time in Yemen. I think you’ll agree with me that these are such a beautiful people who have a deep love for family and community. This is mostly b-roll– I have gobs of b-boy footage that you’ll have to wait and see later this month when I release the Yemen teaser.
